Sports events and award ceremonies
Events and award ceremonies rely on a variety of social media platforms and techniques to get their message to the masses and ensure their event gains the publicity it deserves. JC Social Media has covered a number of awards ceremonies, from the initial shortlist announcements, to live event coverage, and post-awards follow up in the form of full media impact reports.

British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards
The 2017 British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards, sponsored by Lycamobile and brought about by registered charity Sporting Equals, are designed to recognise and celebrate the contributions made by black and minority ethnic communities. The awards help to drive change in the sport sector where more role models from more communities in more sports are a priority to increase participation.
We covered the social media and PR for the 2017 awards, which took place on 18th March at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London.
Approach taken
- Press outreach, with special focus on sports journalists and publications
- Using social media to amplify press appearances and key announcements including the shortlisted athletes
- Coordinating and keeping in touch with sponsors and publishers
- Selling tickets to interested parties including corporates
- Full social media support in the build up, main event and follow up
- Facebook promoted posts to reach new audiences whose values aligned with Sporting Equals and the awards
Results
- A total of 28.9 million social media impressions
- Over 62 million press impressions, including coverage from Sky Sports, the Metro and BBC News’ homepage
- Organising high-profile athletes in securing support in promotion
- Over £500,000 in equivalent advertising value achieved
- Results meant sponsors were secured for the following year
- Campaign won “best use of social media” in the national Chamber of Commerce Awards 2017.

Cross Sports Book Awards
The Cross Sports Book Awards is the major annual promotion for sports writing and publishing, the awards exist to highlight the most outstanding sports books of the previous calendar year, to showcase their merits and to enhance their reputation and profile.
We covered the social media and PR for the 2017 show, which took place on 24th May 2017 at the prestigious Lords Cricket Ground.

- Coverage of several events across the course of the campaign
- Coordinating and keeping in touch with sponsors and publishers
- Full social media support in the build up, main event and follow up
Results
- 2.9 million Twitter impressions
- Cross-promotion with famous sporting names
- Over 13 million PR impressions, including coverage from Sky Sports and The Times
- Results meant sponsors were secured for the following year
