This is a post by Jessica Fitzpatrick of My Voucher Codes, about the #BirminghamSelfieChallenge
After losing a bet with a friend, Jessica Fitzpatrick, the 25-year-old blogger from Birmingham took it upon herself to visit over 40 of Birmingham’s finest attractions and scenic hot spots to find the best places in Birmingham to take a selfie.
Like many others, Jess has seen the rise of the ‘selfie’ obsessed generation around her becoming ever so more apparent lately. Last year, ‘selfie’ entered the Oxford English Dictionary, then in January 2014 THAT song ‘let me take a selfie’ by Chain Smokers went to number 5 in the UK charts. It now has over 218 million views on YouTube. Now, the latest trend to hit the high street for selfie fanatics is the selfy stick, and oh yes, wait for it…. the selfie hairbrush!
So with her selfy stick by her side, Jessica and her friends set out to find Birmingham’s top selfie hotspots. She described the challenge as “one of the best things I’ve ever done. Over a week I took time out to explore my favourite city that I call home, doing things I haven’t made time to do in years. I spent 7 days visiting places like the Sea Life Centre, Botanical Gardens and Think Tank Museum, and met some great people at places like Digbeth Dining Club, the Custard Factory and Brindleyplace”. The behind the scenes video of the challenge can be found HERE along with some of the photos from the challenge.
The full list of ‘the top places to take a selfie in Birmingham’ will be released on Monday 15th September here.
If you think you can name the top 3, email Jessica (on [email protected]) with your answer and you could WIN £500 courtesy of www.myvouchercodes.co.uk.
