I came across Mara Wilson’s Twitter account today. She is the former actress who played Matilda, amongst other things.
On her Twitter account, she has a link to an FAQ page on her website, which she advises that people read before tweeting at her.
The FAQs page starts like this:
Are you Matilda?
No, but I played her in a movie.
Are you that girl from Mrs. Doubtfire or Miracle on 34th Street?
Why don’t you act anymore?
How do you pronounce your name?
MAHR-a, like “car” or “bar” or, well, “mar”. It doesn’t rhyme with “Sarah.”
What do you look like now?
You can read the rest of the FAQ page here. I must admit I thought it sounded a bit stand-offish at first, but as I read the whole thing it was really funny and I felt like I’d learned a lot about Mara. It also gave a big insight into the sorts of questions she is asked, and you do find yourself thinking “wow, that must be annoying” at the questions that have been asked multiple times.
- Do you get so many tweets that you find yourself repeating answers? If so, maybe this is the answer. Thanks Mara!
